The Women in the Law Section, in association with the Young Lawyers Section Women in the Law Committee are pleased to announce that the 2017 Ladder Award winner is the Honorable Maria Araujo Kahn.The award will be presented at the Pathways to Leadership for Women Lawyers on March 23 at the Inn at Middletown.
Judge Kahn is currently assigned to the Fairfield Judicial District in Bridgeport where she hears criminal matters. Prior to her appointment to the Superior court in 2006, she was an Assistant US Attorney. As a federal prosecutor, Judge Kahn was responsible for complex white collar investigations and prosecutions, both civil and criminal, in the areas of health care fraud, bank fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and trade secrets.
The Ladder Award was created by the YLS Women in the Law Committee in 2007 to honor a woman attorney who has “left the ladder down” for those women who follow in her footsteps. The award is aimed at recognizing the efforts of women in the profession who have recognized the importance of mentoring and supporting more junior lawyers in their own journeys to success in the profession. Past recipients of this award include The Honorable Anne C. Dranginis and Rosemary E. Giuliano.
