Attorneys and summer associates of CBA 100% Club members, Updike Kelly & Spellacy PC (UKS, along with the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, led a mock voir dire process at High School, Inc. in Hartford, to introduce high school students to a career in law.
These demonstrations are part of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee’s initiative to create a “pipeline” for students to consider law school. The fact pattern regarded a Fourth Amendment search and seizure issue in the search of a high school student’s locker. A series of statements were presented to the students, who participated as potential jurors.
The presenters included: Evan Goldstein, UKS partner and chair of its Diversity and Inclusion Committee; Adam Marks, UKS partner and chair of its Summer Associate Social Committee; UKS’ four summer associates, Jasjeet Sahani, Jason Martinez, Jeffrey Bausch, Jeffrey Renaud, and summer Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity intern Monica Torrijos.
